“Since 2012, STEP has been serving people in Pakistan through various program e.g. Education, Interest-free microfinance, Food insecurity, Clean Water, safe shelter, Medical support and disaster relief. Collectively we’ve helped 25,000 or more people, reduced their suffering and brought a smile on their faces.
Through all our programs the amount that we have spent is precisely $198,000. But we say we’ve created an impact equivalent to $792,000 because according to Purchasing Power Parity index cost of a similar product/service in Pakistan would be 4 times cheaper than US. Hence, we believe the exact amount of $198,000 that we get by converting rupees into dollars has 4 times impact equivalent to $792,000.
Since 2012, most of the work that we did has been done because of our dedicated volunteers. In total, as per very reserved estimation our volunteers donated at least 15,000 or more hours.
Our interest-free microfinance program began in 2014, starting from district Narowal we expanded this program to Lahore, PakPattan, Sahiwal, Multan, Rawalpindi & even Karachi. The average loan amount we issue is almost 50,000 PKR, while the maximum is 300,000 PKR. Our loan recovery rate for this program is above 95%, which is a huge success.
We have supported over 30 students for various degree programs in STEM fields. Besides general education scholarships, we created Upskill Pakistan Scholars program in 2022 to support talented and financially challenged students for 4 years of STEM education.
On request of our donors from Canada, we installed three clean water plants in three villages of district PakPattan. These plants are benefitting dozens of families every day.
