Education

At STEP we prioritize education as it is one of the core problems that Pakistan is facing and education is the only way to end poverty and change future of any nation.

More than 25 million children age 5-16 are out of school. In Pakistan 65% of the population is under 30 and its universities produce half a million graduates every year, whereas just STEM graduates are more than 150,000/year. Due to high unemployment rate and lack of opportunities Pakistan is not able to utilize potential talent in its youth.

Scholarships for School Kids

We extend scholarships and interest-free loans to students who are financially challenged and demonstrate exceptional academic prowess at both high school and college levels. This financial support covers tuition fees, books, uniforms, transport and accommodation expenses.

On average, it costs $20/month to support one student for school education.

Upskill Pakistan Scholars Program

In 2022, we started a dedicated program to promote STEM education in Pakistan, thanks to a generous donor based out of Chicago who has been providing funds for this program. Since the inception of this program, we have successfully supported seven students. This program is a hybrid model that provides scholarships for small educational expenses while interest-free loans for major costs such as tuition fees, accommodation, and laptop. This model brings sustainability to the program and students don’t slack because of the responsibility of payback. On average, it cost $1,000/year to support a student for STEM degree program in public sector universities of Pakistan. Currently we have three students in this program who are pursuing BS Computer Science programs at University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, Narowal campus.
